God calls us to enlarge our heart for the whole world, beyond our backyard. Because of the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us, we have the power to be witnesses—not only locally, but even to the ends of the earth.
Evergreen has been engaged in supporting the people of Chabin, Haiti since September 2009. Our goal in 2018 is to support Gospel-centered education for children in the Chabin community through teacher training, financial support, and scholarships to the English Institute. We will also invest in the economic development of the community through new projects and possible expansion of the Goat Project, which began in 2017. The Goat Project fosters sustainable income for the local economy through livestock. All of this work will be lead by the local church, positioning it as a much brighter “light” and voice of influence in the community.
Community Coalition for Haiti
If our goal amount is achieved, we will support Community Coalition for Haiti (CCH). CCH is a faithful partner whose goal is to transform lives through faith-based, long-term, community driven solutions in healthcare, education, and community development.
San Jose, Costa Rica
Great Commission Pastor, Carlos Lagos, will be planting a new church in 2018 in the San José suburb of Heredia. It is near a local university and will be focused on reaching college students with the good news of the Gospel. In addition, the San José church has been a light in darkness through their community center, CDI. This refuge has brought hope and help to some of the most vulnerable of that community.
Heshima Children's Center, Kenya
Founded by Evergreen members, Eric and Tracey Hagman, Heshima Children's Center provides physical, mental, and spiritual support for children with special needs. Largely shunned by the community, these children and their mothers are given a new hope through Heshima and Dignity Designs. This year’s goal includes helping to furnish a new therapy building with necessary equipment and educational materials.
Kingdom Farm, Cameroon
Missionaries Gaston & Shelly Kingue have been planting crops and raising chickens in order to raise funds to serve the people of Cameroon in the name of Jesus Christ. Their project focus is caring for the poor, widows, and orphans of Cameroon. With help from Kingdom Builders, Kingdom Farm will provide funds to help older children of widows—in particular those who are university level—to complete their education.
A key need at Kingdom Farm is a consistent supply of water for chickens and crop irrigation. Funding will allow for construction of a well, construction of a water tower, and installation of a water pump. Additionally, Kingdom Builders will fund two solar panels to power lights for chicken coops.
The economy in Venezuela is in free fall. Basic services like water and electricity are now failing in large portions of the country. Hunger, robbery, and violence are now a normal part of life. Despite this, our sister church, Iglesia Gran Comisión, is expanding. Kingdom Builders will enable the local church to assist those in need. They could purchase a building for the second location. They could add staff. They could potentially do different types of Gospel outreach to give lost and hurting people an eternal peace and hope that surpasses all worldly understanding.
Packing Food and Sharing Gifts
All Evergreen locations are pulling together this summer to feed the hungry. During our all-location mission week in July, we will be rallying together to pack a combined 240,000 Harvest-Pack meals. This is enough food to fill a 40 foot shipping container which will be sent to our sister church in the Dominican Republic or another one of our Gospel partners. In addition, we will help share the Good News of Christ to hundreds of children around the world through Operation Christmas Child. In 2017, we sent 520 shoeboxes to Trinidad and Tobago.
